5000 LPH Iron Removal Plant

Turnkey oxidation + media filtration system — robust, automatic backwash, designed for industrial & municipal feeds.

Quick Specs

Capacity5000 LPH (5.0 m³/hr)
Daily (24 hr)120 m³/day
Typical raw Fe0.5 – 10 mg/L (design per site report)
Design outlet Fe< 0.3 mg/L (or per client spec)
ProcessAeration / Oxidation → Media Filtration (Greensand / Catalytic / Birm / MnOx) → Automatic backwash → pH adjust / polishing
MOC (typical)Pressure vessels: FRP / MS (epoxy) / SS304 (as required)
AutomationPLC / Timer controlled backwash, level & pressure interlocks

Final design, media choice and chemical dosing recommended after site feed report (Fe, Mn, pH, DO, turbidity, temperature).

Process Outline (short)

  1. Screen / Sand Trap — remove coarse solids.
  2. Aeration / Oxidation — convert soluble Fe(II) to particulate Fe(III) using atmospheric aeration or chemical oxidant (hypochlorite / permanganate) if needed.
  3. Coagulation (optional) — in high turbidity feeds.
  4. Media Filter — GreensandPlus / catalytic manganese oxide media / birm to remove oxidized iron & manganese.
  5. Automatic Backwash — timed or differential pressure triggered, with waste valve and drain.
  6. Polishing — cartridge filter / activated carbon (if organics) + pH correction.

Equipment List (indicative)

  • Raw water coarse screen / sand trap
  • Aeration tank / oxidation contactor or chemical dosing skid (NaOCl / KMnO4)
  • Pressure media filter vessels (FRP / SS) with multiport valves
  • Filter media: GreensandPlus / Catalytic media / Birm (as selected)
  • Backwash pump & drain arrangement
  • Cartridge filters (5 µm) for polishing
  • pH correction & dosing pumps (if required)
  • PLC / control panel, level switches, pressure gauges

Expected Performance & Notes

  • Typical outlet iron: < 0.3 mg/L (depending on influent & media)
  • Manganese removal: depends on media selection — greensand/catalytic media preferred for Mn.
  • Backwash waste ~2–5% of treated volume (site dependent)
  • Media life: 3–7 years depending on feed & maintenance

Short FAQ

Q: Will this remove dissolved iron?
A: Dissolved (ferrous) iron must be oxidised to ferric (particulate) — we provide aeration or chemical oxidation prior to media filtration.

Q: Do you handle manganese?
A: Yes — choose catalytic media (GreensandPlus / MnOx) and correct pre-oxidation; design per lab report.
