Wet Scrubber Systems
Venturi · Packed Bed · Spray Tower — Gas & Particulate Control | RRR ENVIRO SYSTEMS
Complete Wet Scrubber Solutions — Acid & Odour Control
Wet scrubbers remove acidic gases (SO₂, HCl), ammonia, H₂S, particulate matter and odours by gas-liquid contact. We design Venturi, Packed Bed and Spray Tower scrubbers for chemical, food, textile, pharma, sugar and refining industries.
Quick Capabilities
- Flow rates: 100 m³/hr → 50,000 m³/hr
- Materials: FRP / SS 304 / SS 316 / MS (lined)
- Complete skid & field erection
How Wet Scrubbers Work
Gas stream contacts liquid (water or chemical solution) — soluble pollutants transfer to liquid and are neutralised or absorbed. Choice of scrubbing liquid and contactor depends on gas composition, particulate size and required outlet concentration.
Common Wet Scrubber Types
- Venturi Scrubber: High velocity, excellent for fine particulate & mists; good for gas + particulate combination.
- Packed Bed (Packed Tower): Low-pressure drop, good for acid gas absorption with chemical scrubbing solutions.
- Spray Tower / Spray Header: Simple, used for coarse particulate and condensing gases where low-pressure drop is desired.
- Bubble Column / Packed Column with Counter-Current Flow: For high-efficiency gas absorption & chemical contact.
Process Steps (Typical)
Typical Applications
- Chemical reactors & acid handling units (HCl, SO₂ removal)
- Distilleries, sugar mills — odour and H₂S control
- Refineries & petrochemical plants — SOx, HCl control
- Metal finishing — acid fumes & mist control
- Paint booths & solvent vapour pre-treatment (with proper AOP / carbon polish)
Selection Guidelines / Typical Specs
| Parameter | Typical Range / Note |
|---|---|
| Gas flow | 100 – 50,000 m³/hr (custom design) |
| Gas temperature | Ambient to 120 °C (material dependent) |
| Pressure drop | Venturi: 5–30 kPa; Packed bed: 0.5–5 kPa |
| Liquid recirc | Depends on contaminants & absorption capacity |
| Materials | FRP, SS304/316, Rubber-lined MS, PP |
Scrubbing Liquids & Chemicals
- Fresh water (simple particulate / odour dilution)
- Alkali solutions (NaOH / Ca(OH)₂) for acid gas neutralization
- Oxidants (NaOCl / H₂O₂) for odour & H₂S control in some trains
- Salt solutions for specific gas chemistries
Liquid Effluent Handling
Scrubbing liquor collects dissolved species — requires neutralization, sedimentation, filtration or integration with ETP. For hazardous loads, treat and dispose per TNPCB/CPCB norms. We provide combined ETP + scrubber liquor handling options.
O&M & Safety Notes
- Regular inspection of mist eliminators and nozzles to maintain performance
- Monitor liquor pH, conductivity & freeboard levels — automatic dosing recommended
- Ensure proper material selection for corrosive gases
- Provide secondary containment for recirculation tanks & chemical storage
- Provide SDS & PPE for chemical handling (NaOH, H₂O₂ etc.)
