Beverage Industry Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
Why specialised Beverage ETP?
Beverage plants produce wastewater with very high biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), dissolved sugars, suspended solids, and sometimes fats/greases. Effective treatment requires staged physico-chemical pretreatment and robust biological reactors (SBR/MBBR) followed by filtration and polishing for reuse or discharge.
Overview — Beverage ETP (5–300 KLD)
Our packaged and site-built beverage ETPs address high organic load streams from washing, processing, bottle cleaning, syrup preparation and packaging areas. Standard packages include screening, equalization, oil/g as separation (if required), coagulation/flocculation for colloids, biological treatment (SBR/MBBR), clarification, filtration and disinfection. For reuse in process or cooling, RO/UF polishing is provided.
Capacity flexibility: 5 KLD — 300 KLD (we engineer per flow & load profile).
Recommended Process Flow
SBR recommended for batchy operations and high COD pulses; MBBR for compact continuous operations. Polishing requirement depends on reuse target (e.g., wash water, cooling, boiler make-up).
Typical Technical Specifications (Example: 20 KLD)
| Parameter | Value / Note |
|---|---|
| Design flow | 20 KLD (range 5–300 KLD) |
| Influent characteristics (typical) | pH 4–10, BOD 500–5000 mg/L (varies), COD 1000–8000 mg/L, TSS 50–2000 mg/L, FOG 5–200 mg/L |
| Primary treatment | Screening, equalization, coagulation/flocculation & DAF (if required) |
| Biological treatment | SBR / MBBR with sufficient HRT & aeration |
| Treated quality (typical) | BOD < 50 mg/L (standard), after polishing BOD < 20 mg/L; SS < 30 mg/L |
| Polishing | Sand / Carbon / UF / RO (as required) |
| Sludge handling | Thickener + Filter Press / Decanter (optional) |
| Automation | PLC with pH, DO, level & flow monitoring (optional) |
*Guaranteed final values depend on influent composition and polishing steps. Pilot testing advised for extremely high sugar/condensed streams.

Frequently Asked Questions
A: Reuse for non-product contact applications (cooling, cleaning) is common after UF/RO polishing. For direct bottling or product-contact reuse, strict multi-stage polishing and validated microbiological control are required.
Q: How do you handle seasonal high-strength discharges?A: Equalization tanks, buffer storage and variable aeration control help manage peak loads. We can also provide sidestream treatment or sequencing to protect main biology.
Q: Is pilot testing necessary?A: For very high COD/BOD or unusual constituents, pilot or jar tests are recommended to finalize coagulation dosing and biological process design.
